How to move

It is very convenient and practical to get to the places of interest from our guest house and in general, from the city of La Spezia.
Because of its special position at the crossroads of the regions of Liguria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, the city is excellently connected in terms of transportation, whether you prefer to travel by car or by train.

Peculiar is the boat service that connects La Spezia to the Cinque Terre and other towns on the Riviera of Levante.
This is a great way to visit the seaside villages near the city.
To make it easier for the Guest House clients we provide a series of links to the main transport activities by train, bus and boat on our website.

It is the ideal means of transport to go to the Cinque Terre. The races have a considerable frequency, especially during the summer season and local trains stop at all the stations of the Cinque Terre: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. The terminus is La Spezia, on the Pisa-Genoa line, where all long-distance trains stop.

A single ticket costs about 2 Euros, we recommend purchasing the Cinque Terre Card (different validities) which includes unlimited rail travel on the route and access to the trails.
Travel times by train between the five villages of the Cinque Terre
Monterosso – Vernazza: 4 min
Vernazza – Corniglia: 4 min
Corniglia – Manarola: 5 min
Manarola – Riomaggiore: 6 min

Move to / from Manarola by car Reaching us or reaching Manarola and the nearby tourist destinations using the car is just as convenient as using the train, except in the specific case of the Cinque Terre.
As far as the Cinque Terre National Park is concerned, it’s important to mention that the car is not the best way to fully enjoy it; and its use is not recommended for the particular morphology of the territory with the mountains on one side intertwined with the sea on the other.
However, it is not possible to deny that the road, although winding, offers incredibly beautiful views of the landscape.

A comfortable and remarkable method that offers the opportunity to enjoy our sea, is to sail by boat.

From Molo Italia in La Spezia there is a maritime passenger transport service between Manarola, Lerici, Portovenere, 5 Terre and Levanto; from Manarola and Portovenere to the Palmaria Island and from Lerici to Portovenere.
During summer period departures from Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Massa and Marina di Carrara to the 5 Terre and Portovenere are also scheduled; from Manarola, Lerici, Portovenere, 5 Terre, Levanto to Portofino.

Getting around the area using the bus as a public transport is an excellent way of getting around the city.
There are also other places served by buses as means of public transport, especially for the hinterland and towards Tuscany
We provide links to the websites of companies that carry out public transport.
